Smart Pillow to Cancel Wind Turbine Noise

This project presents the integration of active noise control (ANC) with comfort sound on pillows for canceling wind turbine noise and improving sleep quality. Broadband feedforward and adaptive feedback ANC algorithms are developed for achieved noise reduction and the performance evaluation. Real-time experiments using the real wind turbine noise are conducted to measure the generated quiet zone covering the pillow to support free head movement. Experimental results also show the feedforward ANC system achieve better performance than the feedback ANC system, and the comfort sound can be effectively integrated with the ANC algorithms for masking residual noise.
