3D Surrounding Sound Effects in a Headset

By Chun-Ning Chiou (邱群甯)

This project explores sound orientation and evaluates the performance of duplex theory and head-related transfer function (HRTF) for generating a three-dimensional (3D) surrounding sound. Since the HRTF scheme is more in line with a real environment, a compact HRTF method is proposed with the aim of reducing computational load. Simulation and experimental results were used to verify the effectiveness of the proposed approach. Several sound orientations were examined to test the performance of the 3D surrounding sound effect in a headset.
